Interpretation / Description

Shakyamuni Buddha surrounded by life story narrative scenes. The material is ivory carved in relief and then coloured with mineral pigments. the work is attributed to the 10th Karmapa Choying Dorje (1604-1674). (See other sculptural works attributed to Choying Dorje).
