Niguma is an Indian female siddha of the 11th century. Niguma along with another female siddha named Sukha Siddhi were Buddhist Tantric teachers of Kedrub Kyungpo Naljor who founded the Shangpa Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

This small text illumination is from a group of twelve that decorate the second volume of the collected works of Lochen Gyurme Dechen (TBRC P644) of the Chagzampa branch of the Shangpa Kagyu. The Chagzampa Lug (Iron bridge tradition) was founded by the famous yogi and bridge builder Tang Tong Gyalpo.
