Interpretation / Description

This remarkable basin, used by the Dalai Lamas, has a mythical phoenix spreading its wings in the cavetto, and on the band near the rim the Eight Auspicious Symbols. The edge of the lip is embellished with over fifty turquoise and other semi-precious stones.
