Lineage Single Composition

1. In the Linear Type lineage paintings the teachers begin at the viewer's top left and proceeds to the right and then descends to a second and third horizontal register, or proceeds to the vertical registers on the left and right side of the composition. The Linear Type is more commonly found in early paintings that have a floating composition or register composition format, generally prior to the 16th century.
