Take a closer look

Shakyamuni Buddha, the two principle disciples, the Sixteen Arhats, and 116 life story and previous life story vignettes.

Just above the head of the central large Buddha figure, to the right and to the left side, are the two bodhisattvas Manjushri and Maitreya. They are seated in relaxed postures with the legs distended in front. Small stupas are pictured between them as the appear to be in dialogue (see the Maitrya and Manjushri in Dialogue gallery).
