Interpretation / Description

Kalachakra is placed central at the top of this banner painting offering protection from various obstacles and illnesses represented as animals and daemons descending below. The images act as sigils or binding signatures - a pledge that these afflictions will not be unleashed upon the owners of the protective talisman - Kalachakra monitors the pledges. All of these images arise from the White beryl text composed by Desi Sanggye Gyatso the regeant of the 5th Dalai lama.

Jeff Watt 5-2001
