Interpretation / Description

Chogyal Pagpa (1235-1280 [p1048]) and Shangton Konchog Pal (1240-1308 [p1062]). The composition is part of a series of paintings depicting the Margapala (lamdre) Lineage of teachers.

In the top two registers and descending down the sides are the lineage teachers for the Akshobhyavajra Guhyasamaja cycle of initiation and teachings.

Along the bottom are ten Taras from the set of Twenty-one according to the lineage of the Kashmiri mahasiddha Suryagupta based on the Tantra of the Twenty-one Praises.
