Teacher: Sengge Gyaltsen

Kadam Tradition Main Page

Sengge Gyaltsen (14th/15th century [P59]) was related to the Sakya and Kadam traditions and considered by some to be a reincarnation of Dromton Gyalwa'i Jungne. He was also a teacher of Khedrub Geleg Pal Zangpo and bestowed the Kalachakra initiation. His monastery was located in Tsang Province.

Sengge Gyaltsen is depicted as a monk with the typical attire of an upper and lower robe. Some depictions also have an outer meditation cloak draped around the shoulders. With the legs placed in vajra posture he sits atop either a single or double lotus base. A unique feature for four of the known works depicting Sengge Gyaltsen in the image of a buddha or teacher incised on the front of his monastic shirt.
