Interpretation / Description

This unique depiction of a teacher with an Indian mahasiddha appearance has been cataloged as Padmasambhava based on the prayer to Padmsambhava inscribed on the back of the painting. There is also one of Padmasambhava's twenty five disciples in the lower left corner, a monk with a horse head upon his crown, symbolizing his affinity with Hayagriva.

This depiction is not to be confused with Nyima Ozer, one of the eight forms of Padmasambhava who also has an Indian mahasiddha appearance but holds different hand implements.
