Interpretation / Description

Ratnabhadra or otherwise known as Sogwon Rinchen Zangpo is the figure in the posture of teaching. This painting is part of a set of the Karma Kagyu Golden Garland lineage teachers. Not to be confused with the great early translator Rinchen Zangpo.

Above him at the top left is a green Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, below is the wrathful meditational deity Simhamukha.

This painting is identical in design to HAR 61032 (20th century), so this precedes it. However, this painting is also a copy of the original painting HAR 3314390 designed by Tai Situ according to his Palpung composition, but the deity at the top left has been changed.
