Interpretation / Description

Drung Mase Lodro Rinchen (1386-1423 [P1008]), founder of the Zurmang Kagyu tradition, a sub-school of the Karma Kagyu (Karma Kamtsang). The surrounding figures are the early lineage teachers, the Zurmang Garwang incarnation lineage, meditational deities and protectors.

At the top center is Buddha Vajradhara, Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, and Gampopa, followed by the Karma Kagyu lijneage of teachers down to the 5th Karmapa. Following that the lineage continues through Drung Mase, his students and subsequent incarnations.

To the right and left of the lotus seat atop the throne are six meditational deities. On the left are Chakrasamvara, Vajravarahi and a Kila-like deity. On the right side is Vajrayogini, Vajrapani and a four armed wrathful deity.

At the bottom center is Chaturbhuja Mahakala along with two attendant figures. At the left are Ekajati, Tseringma and Vaishravana Riding a Lion. Slightly above are Black Cloak Mahakala and Maning Mahakala.

On the right side of the central Mahakala are Shri Devi, Dorje Legpa and a red Tsen deity. Slightly above that are Shadbhuja Mahakala and Karma Yab-yum.
