Section of mural depicting the Sakya Lamdre lineage in Gongkar Chode College.
This mural must be read in order from right to left, because all of these teachers are looking towards the central figure in the set, which is Vajradhara. These teachers are on the proper right of Vajradhara, which means they skip numbers in the order of the Lamdre lineage teachers.
8th teacher in lineage. Drogmi Lotsawa (992-1072). He is dressed as a monk, making a unique mudra hand gesture. This photograph is cropped, but just next to Drogmi there are volumes of books which have been painted to show that he is a translator. The section of the mural which has been cropped out is visible in another photograph on the left edge: HAR 60252.
10th teacher in lineage. Shangton Chobar (1053-1136). He is easily identifiable because of his large front teeth, which are present in many depictions of him. The Lamdre tradition is ambiguous as to whether Zhangton was a monk or a layman, and he appears in paintings in both appearances, however it is factual that he was a layman. His consort's name is given in some sources: Ozer Gyen ('od zer brgyan). He is here dressed in the white robes with a red border of a lay tantric practitioner.
It is unknown what paintings these murals were copied from.
