Interpretation / Description

Mandala of a wrathful deity (unidentified). The wrathful character of the central figure is characterized by the curved knife and skullcup at the center of the composition. There are also eight cemeteries depicted between the outer ring of lotus petals and the five coloured flames of pristine awareness - wisdom fire surrounding the entire mandala.

It is possible that the mandala is a symbolic depiction of Chaturbhuja Mahakala based on the implements and number of retinue deities represented by the coloured dots in concentric circles surrounding the center point of the mandala.
