Interpretation / Description

Padampa Sanggye (tentatively identified).

The reverse of the sculpture has an inscribed name reading 'Drubtob Ling' however the iconography of the sculpture is typical of other examples identified as Padampa Sangge. Further study is required. (grub thob gling la na mo!)

At first reading it could be considered that the inscription is identifying the image as the famous Ling Repa Pema Dorje of the Drugpa Kagyu tradition, however the iconography of Ling Repa is typically different.
