Interpretation / Description

Amitayus. Eastern Tibet or possible Northern Burma, 13th/14th century, bronze with unique Tibetan folk script inscription, partially sealed. Approx 11 1/2"/ 30cm. Unusual base design compare with Amitayas formerly in the Kronos Colletion, now in collection of the Metropolitan Museum and illustrated as object 25, page 70 in The Flame and the Lotus (Martin Lerner) and attributed as Northern Burma(?).
