Interpretation / Description

Maitreya, Bodhisattva (Tibetan: cham pa, chang chub sem pa. English: the One of Love, Being of Enlightenment). Circa 1400.

Along the top are a row of buddhas. Below that are the two deities White Manjushri and White Achala. Descending at the sides are lineage teachers wearing monastic robes and pandita hats. At the bottom in a row are the early kings of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo, Trisongdetsen, Ralpachen, etc. (Each of the figures is inscribed with a name written beneath).
