Interpretation / Description

Tsongkapa, Lobzang Dragpa (1357-1419): founder of the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism with the two principal disciples Gyaltsab and Khedrup seated at the sides.

Tsongkapa Biographical Details

At the top is the bodhisattva Maitreya in the Tushita heaven. At the bottom left is the enlightened protector Shadbhuja Mahakala and Yama Dharmaraja on the right.
