Each of these kesi brocade textiles are three meters in length. Commissioned by the Yongle emperor and marked with an inscription. The three, Vajrabhairava, Rakta Yamari and Chakrasamvara, were most likely created for Jamchen Choje Shakya Yeshe the founder of Sera Monastery. The Panjaranata Mahakala was most probably created as a gift for Tegchen Chogyal Kunga Tashi of the Khon Family of Sakya.

According to the biography of Shakya Yeshe he was also given by the Yongle emperor a set of textiles depicting Shakyamuni and the Sixteen Elders. Each of these was approximately a meter and a half in length. Upon his return to Tibet, these were then given by Shakya Yeshe to his teacher Tsongkapa. Some of the compositions from the set are still known to reside at Ganden Monastery outside of Lhasa to the east.
