It is recorded that these seven paintings were given by Kangyur Rinpoche (1898-1975) to the parents of Tenzin Gyatso (1935-present) to celebrate the enthronement of the 14th Dalai Lama in 1940. The works as a set of seven later went into the possession of Gyalo Thundrub (1928-present) the 2nd eldest brother of the Dalai Lama. From Gyalo Thundrub the works went into the possession of Richard Blum and Dianne Feinstein.
