Artist: Dondrub

Dondrup (b.1983) began training as a painter with Tenpa Rabten in 1998 and established a personal studio as a professional thangka painter in 2002. In 2005, he founded the Menla Dondrup Thangka Art Center, as a painting school, named after the founder of the Menthang painting tradition, which has received national accolades.

Between 2006 and 2007, he participated in mural repair projects in Lhodrak. In January 2008, he took part in the restoration of murals at Gongkar Chode Monastery. From 2020 to 2021, he led major mural painting projects for three monasteries in Ngaba Prefecture, Sichuan, and in 2022 he was invited to serve as chief conservator for the mural restoration project at Guanyin Temple, a protected heritage site in Jinchuan County, Ngaba.
