Gangtey Gonpa Wangdue Phodrang (site name: Gangtey Gonpa; location: Wangdue Phodrang district). Gangtey Sangnag Choling (sgang steng sngags chos gling) is the seat of the Gangtey Tulku (sgang steng sprul sku), or Body Incarnation, of the Pema Lingpa (1450-1521) lineage. The current Gangtey Tulku is Thegchog Tenpa'i Gyaltsen (theg mchog bstan pa'i rgyal mtshan, b. 1951). The original temple was built by the first Gangteng Tulku Pema Thinley (pad+ma phrin las, 1564-1642?). The main temple of Gangtey Gonpa was extensively renovated and repaired between 2002-2008 under the sponsorship of the current Gangtey Tulku. The annual Gangtey festival (tsechu) takes place between the 5th and 10th days of the eighth Bhutanese lunar month.
