Clay Molds | Ashmolean Sculpture Page
The Ashmolean Museum has Indian, Himalayan and Tibetan clay molds. The most intricate and with accompanying inscriptions are the Indian objects. Many of these found there way into Tibet transported back from India by pilgrims. It is also likely that the negative molds were obtained in India and also returned to Tibet and further clay mold positives were created in the Himalayas and Tibet using the Indian molds.
