There appear to be several sets of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas in a similar style. Currently there are four known pieces from an un-gilded set of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas. Two are in museum collections and two are in private hands. Some of the figures are dated very early and others late. Some are catalogued as being Tibetan while others are believed to be from China. It is very possible that this set was created during the time of the Qianlong Emperor (18th century).
