There are very few early examples of paintings from the 11th to 14th centuries of mahasiddhas or 'siddha appearance'. The vast majority of examples were created during the 15th and 16th centuries. At this time there is only one known early painting depicting the Eighty-four Great Siddhas (HAR #36457). The Machig Labdron painting was also selected to accompany the Padampa Sanggye composition. All of the paintings from this time period appear to be one off individual scroll work compositions.
