Tsethang 1996.
A group of young Tibetan archaeologists trained at Sichuan University in the 1980s. Their mentor and Tibet's foremost archaeologist, Sonam Wangdu (back row third from left), inspired the creation of the Shalu Association and guided the choice of sites from 1994 to 1996. Several of the young archaeologists work with Shalu Association on site trips and in co-ordination projects.
