Interpretation / Description

Putalipa, Siddha: seated with a painting of Hevajra and a King of Bengal.

Art Represented in Art: between the two figures is a painting of the meditational deity Hevajra as described in the text narrating the biography of Putalipa converting a King of Bengal. The story is based on the writings of Abhayakaragupta and the iconographic descriptions for this visual depiction is based on the writings of Jonang Taranata.
