Item: Teacher (Lama) - Bodong Panchen Chogle Namgyal

Bodong Panchen Chogle Namgyal (1376-1451 [TBRC P2627]). A portrait painting dated to approximately 1450. An attached inscription on the reverse of the painting identifies the central figure as Bodong Panchen. Another informant claims that an earlier attached inscription named Pang Lotsawa, uncle of Jangchub Tsemo, as the subject. Some have suggested that the figure is in fact Buton Rinchen Drub based on the attributes of the vajra and bell.

At the top center is a Buddha figure with the hands in a teaching gesture. At the left is Padampa Sanggye. At the right is the Lord of Yoga Virupa. At the lower left is Chakrasamvara in a simplified form. At the lower right is Chaturbhuja Mahakala with one face and four hands.
