Sakya Holy Days

---

The Four Great Holy Days:

1) Shakyamuni Buddha displayed miracles from the 1st to the 15th of the 1st Month.
2) [a] The Birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, 7th day of the 4th Month; [b] entering the womb, [c] attaining complete enlightenment at dawn, and [d] passing into parinirvana at dusk, all on the 15th day of the 4th Month.
3) The first turning of the Wheel of Dharma on the 4th day of the 6th Month.
4) The Descent from the Divine Realms; Shakyamuni agreed to descend on the 15th of the 9th Month and actually descended on the 22nd of the 9th Month.

The Six Holy Days of the month are the; 8th, 14th, 15th, 23rd, 29th and New Moon.
The Three Holy Days are the; Full Moon, New Moon and 8th day.
Solar and Lunar eclipses are auspicious.

Regular Monthly Special Days:
1st Day - Buddha Samadhipradharaja (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
3rd Day - Dharmapala Tsi'u Marpo.
8th and 29th Days - Medicine Buddha, (merit is increased one hundred-fold. Kshitigarbha Sutra).
8th, 14th, 23rd and 29th Days - Shri Hevajra.
9th, 19th and 29th Days - All Dharmapalas, Panjara Mahakala, Chaturmukha and the like.
10th Day - Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava).
10th and 25th Days - Vajrayogini.
14th Day - the Thousand and Two Buddhas (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
14th Day - Dharmapala Magzor Gyalmo, Shri Devi, Rabtanma and the like.
15th Day - All Peaceful Deities (merit is increased one hundred-fold. Kshitigarbha Sutra).
15th and 28th Days - Amitabha Buddha (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
21st Day - Avalokiteshvara (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
23rd Day - Vairochana Buddha (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
24th Day - Kshitagarbha (Kshitigarbha Sutra).
30th Day - Shakyamuni Buddha, (merit is increased one hundred-fold. Kshitigarbha Sutra).
