Interpretation / Description

Choje Namsa Dragpugpa: a student of Sakya Pandita and important teacher in the lineage of the Sakya Lamdre Tradition.

Upright and contemplative in appearance, he gazes forward. The hands are placed in the lap in the mudra (gesture) of meditation. Wearing the orange and red robes of a monk, the right arm remains bare and the legs are folded beneath a meditation cloak. Seated atop an ornate throne with a decorative backrest, the head is framed with a light green areola of light. In front, a small table supports a vase and branch of red coral, along with other objects. At the lower left a monk holds a vase upraised in the left hand.

At the top left, seated in a celestial palace, is the goddess, the great bodhisattva, Green Tara. At the bottom right is the wealth deity Yellow Jambhala holding a bijapuraka fruit and a mongoose.
