Taranata, Kunga Nyingpo (1575-1634 [P1428]). This is the main painting (center) from a set of paintings either depicting the previous incarnations of Jonang Taranata, or a series of paintings depicting the Jonang Tradition of teachers. (Read a short biography of Taranata).
Surrounding Taranata and descending on the right and left sides are fourteen previous incarnations.
At the top center is Shakyamuni Buddha. At the left side is Hevajra and Vajrayogini. At the right side is Chakrasamvara and Chaturbhuja Lokeshvara. Below Shakyamuni is Amitayus Buddha with Bhutadamara Vajrapani on the left and Simhamukha on the right.
At the bottom left is an unidentified donor figure. To the right is Yellow Jambhala, Brahmanarupa Mahakala, Panjarnata Mahakala and Raudrantaka.
