Interpretation / Description

Sonam Choglang (1438-1505).

Sonam Choglang (1438-1505) Iconography: [1] Choglang wears monastic attire and a pandita hat. At the upper right is [2] Sonam Rinchen. At the top left is [3] Heruka Manjuvajra Guhyasamaja. At the bottom right is [4] Shri Devi Magzor Gyalmo.

The Manjuvajra Guhyasamaja in full form at the top left is unusual, along with the large white snow capped mountain dominating the composition at the top center with all of the lower landscape, hills, rocks, streams and waterfalls hanging and descending from that single monolithic form, the peaks hidden by billowing white clouds, shrouding in secrecy.
