Interpretation / Description

Kedrub Geleg Pal Zangpo (1385-1438).

Kedrub Geleg Pal Zangpo (1385-1438) Iconography: Dressed as a monk, [1] Kedrub holds a mandala offering plate with both hands, seated in a kneeling posture. At the top left is [2] Je Tsongkapa riding an elephant. At the top right is [3] Heruka Vajrabhairava. At the bottom left is [4] Shadbhuja Mahakala.

The Vajrabhairava in full form is unusual for this set of paintings, along with the abundance of clouds, birds, butterflies, and flower petals. At the lower right the stream meanders through meadows and green rolling landscape broadening into a pond with water fowl and wish-fulfilling jewels.
