Notes about the Central Figure
Tsongkapa, Life Story, based on the painting set of fifteen compositions designed by Jamyang Shepa (1648-1721/2). This set known as the Chittamani Garland Spreading the Buddha’s Teachings is composed of 153 narrative vignettes. This composition is #15 (left seventh) in the fifteen painting set. No other compositions from this set are currently identified. (See a comparable block print image and a painted version 60901).
