Interpretation / Description

Chemchog Heruka from a set of nine paintings depicting the Eight Prounouncement Heruka deities. At the top center is Samantabhadra Buddha with a dark blue body and embracing a consort. An Indian monastic teacher sits on the left and a lay teacher on the right side.

At the bottom center is Maning Mahakala. A the left is a wrathful female protector, red in colour, holding a long vajra hook in the right hand and a mirror in the left hand. On the right side a scorpion protector with numerous eyes adorning the body rides a black horse.
