Interpretation / Description

Shakyamuni Buddha and the Glorious Heap of Fruition Temple (Sanskrit: dhanyakataka). This is the famous location in South India where the Buddha Shakyamuni bestowed the Kalachakra initiation for the first time.

This composition has also been identified as a depiction of the Mahabodhi temple at Bodhgaya, India.
