Tibetan: Kandroma (bka' 'gro ma)

Kandroma of the Bon religion function in a similar manner as the dakini of Indian lore. The kandroma that appear in art are primarily meditational deities many of which belong to the meditation cycle called 'Magyu' in Tibetan meaning mother continuum. In modern times it is very common to find the Tibetan term khandroma and the Sanskrit term dakini used interchangeably. In the Bon religion, unlike the Nyingma tradition of Buddhism, not all female deities are kandroma.
