Margapala/Lamdre Lineage [30] (Lhakang Chenmo Set)

Sakya Main Page

Subjects, Topics & Types:
- Description
- Lamdre Lineage Outline Page
- Single Figure Composition

These two paintings are from the same set depicting the Lamdre teaching lineage of the Sakya tradition. Nairatmya is the second painting in the set, and Seton Kunrig is the ninth painting.

"Both paintings have a very distinctive brocade mount made up of three framing strips in different colours, from red to blue to green, running from the inside out. There is also a rectangular red patch containing the maṇi mantra of Avalokiteśvara in Lantsa (Rañjanā) script located along the bottom centre. As these appear to be the original mountings, they might serve as an additional clue to identify further paintings from the same set."
