Painting Style: Bon Art in West Tibet

Paintings that depict iconographic subjects and topics of the Bon religion generally follow regional art styles. Four main regions can easily be distinguished by painting style. They are West Tibet, Central Tibet, Amdo and Kham. The characteristics and image examples below highlight the typical Bon paintings of West Tibet. Many of the example are from the Southern Himalayan regions of Dolpo and Mustang, in Western Nepal.
