In the Nyingma Kama Tradition said to be Eighteen Mahayoga Tantras, according to the systems of Longchenpa Drime Ozer and Patrul Rinpoche. According to Longchenpa the Guhyasamaja (thugs kyi thugs rgyud gsang ba 'dus pa) belongs to the Enlightened Mind section of the Eighteen Tantras. In the system of Patrul Rinpoche, Guhyasamaja belongs to the group of Five Major Tantras along with Buddhasamayoga, Shrichandraguhyatilika, Shriparamadya and the Karmamala.

Several later forms of Guhyasamaja can also be found in the 'Revealed Treasure' tradition of the Nyingma.
