Interpretation / Description

Durse Lhasung (dur gsas lha srung). The Protector Deities of the 'Dur' Rite.

Five Gods of the Bon Religion. The five are related to funerary rituals.

Seated within a rainbow sphere the Five Gods each with one face and two hands, blue, yellow, green, red and white in colour, hold their own objects and sit on thrones supported by snow lions, dragons, elephants, horses, and Horned Eagles. Thirty-three Gods, belonging to three divisions of worldly deities, peaceful and wrathful, sit, stand and ride various animal mounts at the right and left sides.
