Interpretation / Description

Sachen Kunga Nyingpo (1092-1158) the 3rd in the lineage of Sakya throne-holders. The bodhisattva Maitreya stands at the left and Manjushri on the right. Further surrounded by teachers of the Lamdre lineage, the special meditational deity Hevajra is repeated 3 times in the composition of the painting. Beneath or alongside each figure is a name inscription written with black lettering in the Ume style of script.
