This set of paintings currently resides at Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim, India. They were presented as a gift to the 16th Karmapa in India in the 1960s by Sanggye Nyenpa Rinpoche who had commissioned the paintings in Kham, Tibet, prior to exile in India.

The sources for identifying the figures are Book 1-4 from bka'brgyud gser phreg rnam thar zla wa chu shel gyi phreng ba (The Golden Garland of Kagyu Biographies) published by Vajra Vidya Institute Library in 2005.
