Padmasambhava: Youthful Appearance

Padmasambhava: Specialty Forms

Padmasambhava in his main form can in some cases be depicted as youthful in appearance. While generally maintaining the main form with attributes and clothing the difference is found with the face and facial expression. He has a peaceful expression with eyes in a slightly narrowed meditative gaze, without a furrowed brow and without the moustache and goatee.

Video: Padmasambhava in Youthful Appearance

Youthful forms of Padmasambhava are based on the iconographic descriptions found in the Revealed Treasure (terma) texts of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Youthful forms are not particularly common and appear in painting more often than with sculpture.

Four Characteristics:
- Meditative Eyes
- No furrowed Brow
