Interpretation / Description

Sanggye Yarjon, the 3rd abbot of Taglung Monastery. The figure in the top register seated to the right of Vajradhara is likely to be Kuyalwa Rinchen Gonpo. The lineage on the left side ends with Gampopa, Pagmodrubpa and Taglung Tangpa Chenpo.

In the top register, slightly to the left of center is the primordial Buddha Vajradhara, blue in colour, with the hands crossed at the heart. Moving to the left and descending down the left register is the standard Marpa Kagyu (Dagpo) lineage of teachers with Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, Gampopa, Pagmodrupa, etc. In the top register on the right side and descending down the right register are the early Kadam lineage teachers such as Atisha, Dromton, Putowa, etc.

In the bottom register on the right side are three deity figures: Manjushri, yellow in colour, Avalokiteshvara, white, and Vajrapani, green in colour.
