Video: Nyingma Borrowings from Sarma

There are many iconographic forms found in the Revealed Treasure tradition of the Nyingma that are derived from the New Tantras of the Sarma tradition (Sakya, Kagyu). Some forms were absorbed naturally from teacher to student such as with Chaturbhuja Mahakala transmitted by Ga Lotsawa to Nyangral Nyima Oser. Other iconographic forms were gradually adopted over time and designated as Revealed Treasure.

The common examples of Sarma forms later designated as Revealed Treasures are Simhamukha, Red Jambhala, and Krodha Kali Vajravarahi.
